Unlike many of our other products, a Spore Trap is designed for use by trained professionals. This test for mold is used to compare outside air to inside air. The results determine if mold contamination exists. This mold test kit, however, does not provide the full range of testing that other products deliver. For example, mold test kits like this cannot be analyzed for speciation of mold, culturing of mold or determining the viability of mold. Spore Trap analyses also require the use of sophisticated sampling equipment, such as a vacuum pump, flow meter and Tygon tubing.
At ImmunoLytics, we do provide customers who purchase this mold detector with a range of services. This mold test includes the trap, analysis processing forms and 24-hour turnaround on the results. Again, results do not include mold speciation, culturing or viability. This test simply confirms or denies the presence of mold and provides mold counts.
If mold presence is determined, a Spore Trap test can be followed up with one of our other products to gain additional information. Our standard mold test kit, for example, will provide a great deal more information and is simple enough that homeowners can test themselves. These kits include two collection plates for testing of two separate rooms, forms, analysis of mold type, mold count and other features. They also include a telephone consultation with an environmental professional to discuss results and potential need for further steps to create a healthier indoor environment.
